Description
In the last twenty years, there has been a revolution in science with the development of new materials that have the potential to reshape the future of society. Those materials range from high temperature superconductors that have fueled dreams of levitating trains and super efficient electric circuits that can transport massive electric currents without dissipation to all-carbon devices that can replace silicon in the future generation of transistors and can be applied to a myriad of purposes, to materials that can be used as the basis of the new envisioned quantum computers. In this program, Dr. Uchoa from the University of Oklahoma's Physics Dept. will describe the current excitement in the science of novel materials and show how fundamental research can lead to groundbreaking new applications.
