The Revenant
Author
Sonia Gensler
Genre
historical fiction
ISBN
9780375867019
Review
Even though it has some romance that isn't particularly my favorite, Gensler created an interesting mystery that urged me to keep on reading the story. I liked the way the story was unpredictable. The story was a mix of historical fiction, too. It's basically about a 17-year old girl called Willie, who steals a teaching certificate, runs away from her family, and goes to the Cherokee Female Seminary in Tahlequah as a teacher. There has been rumors that Ella's, a former student's, spirit lies restless in the school. Strange things happen. Willie, with her new identity as Ms. Mclure, falls in love with a student, but is he the killer who murdered Ella? What does the ghost want? Is Ella even the spirit causing the whole chaos? To solve these questions, "Miss. Mclure" uses her curiosity to solve this mystery and to bring peace to the school and herself.
